The Mission

Welcome to the On A Mission KC’s Beds for Pets campaign, where we're making a difference in the lives of shelter pets! Five years ago, Scott Poore initiated a heartwarming mission by donating 3000 shelter beds to small animal shelters, providing a cozy haven for every homeless dog and cat in Kansas.

In 2020, Scott's ambition soared to new heights. His vision? To ensure every homeless pet in shelters across Kansas and Missouri had a warm, comfortable bed for the winter season. And he achieved more than he dreamed possible!

Scott Poore's drive led to an astonishing donation of 6251 beds, benefiting shelter pets across Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Indiana, and Illinois. These beds were thoughtfully chosen from IKEA, a brand known for quality and comfort.

You might wonder, why an IKEA bath mat? The answer lies in the benefits it offers. These mats keep animals dry, warm, and snug – enhancing their chances of finding forever homes. Crafted for maximum comfort, these ultra-soft mats fit perfectly on Kuranda beds. They're super absorbent and easy to clean, allowing volunteers to focus more on the animals and less on laundry.

Fast forward to 2023, and Scott's determination has only grown stronger. This year, his goal was to rally support and raise funds to provide a whopping 10,000 beds for shelter pets in need!

10,000 BATH MATS x $7.99 = $79,900

But here's the inspiring part – it's not just about numbers. It's about the collective effort of businesses and individuals coming together to create an impact. In a mere three months of fundraising, we've raised an astounding $60,000! With this, we've purchased a heartwarming total of 7,125 beds.

Ikea donated 400 beds.
Ikea customers donated 63 beds.
Corporate & Individual donations purchased 6,662 beds.

Shelter Beds Distribution.

A heartfelt shoutout goes to Hill's Pet Nutrition and their Food, Shelter & Love program. The Hill's team has not only donated $10,000 in support of the campaign, but has once again stepped up to handle the distribution of the 7,12 beds we’ve purchased.

This generosity not only aids our campaign but also extends a helping hand to the small and rural animal shelters that receive these beds. We are deeply grateful for their commitment to positively impacting our mission.

In February 2024, Hills Pet successfully completed distribution. Their diligent efforts in preparation and shipping played a crucial role in enabling our campaign to impact 7 states. A total of 155 animal shelters are set to receive beds for their pets.
