What is it?
For years, Scott Poore has dreamed of a billboard dedicated to helping Kansas City’s homeless pets who have been waiting the longest for their forever homes. Now, that dream is becoming a reality.
The Billboard Campaign showcases the faces and names of long-term shelter dogs, giving them the visibility they deserve. Each dog featured is waiting for their chance to be seen, loved, and adopted into a permanent home.

How it works.
Our goal is to keep the billboard up year-round, offering a consistent platform to highlight these deserving pets. Here’s how it works:
The billboard features the photo and name of a shelter animal who has been homeless the longest.
When that pet gets adopted, their spot on the billboard is replaced with another long-term shelter resident.
This rotating spotlight not only celebrates each adoption but also keeps the campaign fresh and impactful, helping more animals find their forever families.

Who makes it possible?
The Billboard Campaign is made possible by the generous donors of On A Mission KC. The cost to maintain the billboard is approximately $1,500 per month, and every dollar donated brings us closer to helping more shelter pets find their forever homes.

Jimmy’s Story
Many of you may already recognize this handsome face! Jimmy’s journey with On A Mission KC began in July 2023, when he was just hours away from a euthanasia deadline at Wichita Animal Services.
I’ll never forget the emptiness in his eyes when I first saw him in his kennel—he knew his time was running out, and it broke my heart. I called my team and said, “We have to save Jimmy’s life.” An hour later, Jimmy was in my backseat, and we were heading back to Kansas City.
Now, over 600 days later, Jimmy is still waiting for his forever home. Despite his challenges, Jimmy is resilient and overflowing with love.

Jimmy would thrive as the cherished solo pet of a household, where he can shower his human best friend with endless affection. While he’s done well with other dogs, we believe he’ll flourish in a home where he can be the center of attention.
