On A Mission KC is driving change for rural animal shelters. These shelters face tough challenges—limited funding, few volunteers, and overcrowding—making it hard to care for pets and find them homes.
That’s where we step in. Every week, we hit the road to support rural shelters, promote long-term shelter pets, and meet urgent needs. From medical care and supplies to washers, food, and toys—we show up where it matters most.
Our goal? To boost adoptions and help shelters build strong, sustainable community support.

The Impact of Rural Animal Shelter Trips
Risen From The Ashes: Restoring Hope for Horses and More
In Centerview, Missouri, Risen From The Ashes Horse Rescue gives animals a second chance. From neglected senior horses to cats and dogs needing urgent medical care, this sanctuary offers healing and lifelong care. We shined a light on their sanctuary through social media, increasing awareness and traction. While farm animals aren’t a fit for most of our followers, the increased visibility has helped them connect with a broader audience.
Windsor Dog Pound: Keeping Dogs Safe and Warm
Winter hit hard at Windsor Dog Pound, but thanks to incredible support from our fundraising posts, we were able to raise the full $10,000for their new HVAC system! The community’s generosity is already making a difference, keeping dogs safe and warm through every season.
Old Drum Animal Shelter: Compassion in Action
Old Drum Animal Shelter (ODAS) in Warrensburg, Missouri, relies on volunteers and donations to provide care and find homes for abandoned animals. We funded an agility center to give dogs a space to exercise and stay active. Scott Poore’s insights have also helped improve adoption rates and strengthen community ties. This visit showed how partnerships can transform outcomes for rural shelters.
Atchison Animal Control: Helping Through Crisis
Atchison Animal Control works to protect animals from neglect and find loving homes. After visiting and shooting a video highlighting their challenges, local news stations took notice and reached out to offer additional support. The increased attention has helped them get much-needed resources.
M’Shoogy’s Animal Rescue: A True Sanctuary
In Savannah, Missouri, M’Shoogy’s offers a safe haven on 22 acres. Their low-cost clinic, Angel’s Vet Express, helps not only their animals but thousands more in need. We promoted their sanctuary and several of their adoptable dogs. It’s a reminder that hope and healing thrive with the right support.
Pleasant Hill Animal Shelter: A Small Shelter with a Big Heart
Jeff, a Brittany Spaniel mix and abuse survivor, found his forever home thanks to the awareness created through our campaign. Pleasant Hill Animal Control works hard to reunite lost pets and find forever homes despite limited resources. Their success story shows the power of community support.

✅ $500 – Sponsor a full shelter trip
